Insurance Coverage
This is been a rough two years for me and my family. We’ve gone through a lot of changes and most of those have not been positive. My husband lost his job and as a result we lost our affordable health insurance coverage, so now what we are without. Listening to all of the talk coming out of Washington especially with the healthcare reform bill we are a little stressed that we have to have health insurance coverage or face a fine. We wish things were totally different, it’s not that we like going without health insurance coverage in fact that’s a little on the frightening side with two children living at home. But I’m sure we will manage we just need to take the bull by the horns and get quotes from one of the many major insurance carriers and see which plans fit into our monthly budget as far as monthly premiums are concerned. In addition our 16-year-old son has started driving so we need to think about getting auto insurance quotes from the various companies to try to lower our monthly premiums they are as well.
With all that is facing us financially I know that we need to start prioritizing to be sure that we have got the best interests at heart for our family. Our son will be going off to college in two years so were going to have to start thinking about student health insurance as well. I know that the major insurance carriers do offer this type of insurance so hopefully in the future were going to be in a better position to be able to afford this coverage for her son as he is furthering his education. Another dilemma we are faced with is that we have got my parents living with me who are retired and they have traditional Medicare but they are in need of a supplement plan to help offset the cost of what Medicare will cover what their responsibility is.
I’ve been looking into Medicare supplement plans for them and it seems the most logical way to go. The supplement plans are offered to retirees once they are enrolled in both Medicare plans, Part A and Part B. These plans are offered with one small monthly premium payment and can never be canceled with exception of nonpayment. And they offer a wide span of coverage including insulin supplies for diabetics. I’m going to call 1-800-MEDIGAP and get all of my questions answered and start the application process for my parents so that they will have peace of mind in the years to come.
